KIKI SALON AT PORTSEA PLACE

Following the steps of Zika Ascher and Lida Tydlitat, who are described by many as having made a revolution in industrial design, Portsea Place is delighted to be a part of Miss Kiki salon, which strives to divulge and promote the work of emerging artists, photographers, illustrators, poets, musicians, writers and philosophers in a very compelling way – the production of scarves with designs by modern artists.

In 1945, from a telephone in Cafe du Rond Pont des Champs- Elysees, Paris, Mr. Ascher explained to the greatest artists of the day including Braque and Picasso his idea of designs for fabrics, Ascher had an incredible ability to match these famous artist’s works on silk. The innovation of this sensitive man made more than 8 Vogue covers all over the world in one month alone and became a world fashion sensation still followed today by brands like Hermès and Dior among others.

A few carefully chosen British artists are now designing a collection of illustration that will be reproduced on silk scarves, for this inaugural collection we named it Six Easy Pieces. These works will become part (and displayed) in our regular salons at Portsea Place. Please go to Miss Kiki website (misskikisalonpresents.co.uk) or to Portsea Place website (22portseaplace.com) to be a part of this terrific project. Alternatively just look at the stunning scarves which are for sale on http://misskikisalonpresents.co.uk/cgi-bin/online/storepro.php
